Terms of Use

The agreement for using Versley

Plain-language terms for the app that wakes you up and asks you to read before it'll let you go back to sleep.

Before this goes live Section 8 (Subscriptions) is written for today's reality: Versley doesn't charge anyone yet. Rewrite it the day real billing ships, and have a lawyer check the whole thing before publishing.

1Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use are a legal agreement between you and Boston White governing your use of the Versley mobile app. By downloading, installing, or using Versley, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

2The service

Versley helps you build a daily scripture-reading habit. It schedules an alarm at a time you choose; silencing it for real means opening the app and reading the day's passage. It tracks your streak, lets you bookmark, highlight, and like verses, and keep a reading journal.

3Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Versley. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use it.

4Accounts

You can use Versley without creating an account — the app works fully on an anonymous, device-only basis. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google to back up your data, you're responsible for keeping that sign-in and your device secure, and for everything that happens under your account.

5Alarms & reminders

Versley's alarms rely on iOS's own alarm and notification systems. Like any alarm app, reliability can be affected by things outside our control: Do Not Disturb or Focus modes, silent/volume settings, Low Power Mode, a force-quit app, or changes Apple makes to how iOS schedules alerts.

Versley is not a substitute for a dedicated alarm clock or medical alert device, and we can't guarantee an alarm will sound every time. Don't rely on it as your only way to wake up for something you can't afford to miss.

6Your content

Journal entries, highlights, and anything else you write or mark in Versley are yours. By creating them, you give us only the limited right to store, sync, and display that content back to you across your devices — we don't read it for any other purpose, and we don't share it with anyone else.

You're responsible for what you write. Don't use the journal to store anything illegal or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

Scripture text displayed in the app belongs to its respective publishers or is in the public domain, as applicable, and is not Versley's own work.

7Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app beyond what's allowed by law
  • Use the app in any way that could disable, overburden, or impair our servers
  • Use an automated system to access the app outside of its own normal use
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate someone else when signing in

8Subscriptions & payment

As of this writing, Versley is free and does not charge for any feature — there is no subscription or in-app purchase to cancel. If that changes, we'll update this section first, and any payment will go through Apple's or Google's own purchase system, subject to their terms and refund policies, not ours directly.

9Intellectual property

Versley's name, logo, design, and underlying software are owned by Boston White. These terms don't grant you any right to use our branding outside of using the app as intended.

10Disclaimers

Versley is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at all times.

Versley is a habit-building tool, not a religious, spiritual, medical, or professional authority. It doesn't claim to represent any particular denomination's teaching, and nothing in the app is professional advice.

11Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Boston White isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Versley — including a missed alarm, lost streak, or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, which, as of this writing, is zero.

12Termination

You can stop using Versley anytime by deleting the app, and can request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

13Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

14Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and material changes will be noted inside the app.
